Looking forward to 2016 NY RHMF Emerging Artist Grant recipient Joiri Minaya’s Conversation with @larryosseimensah at @bam_brooklyn tomorrow, May 3 at 6.30pm. Minaya and Ossei-Mensah will discuss "Redecode x Containers," an unexpected and layered take on cultural tropes historically projected onto Caribbean culture, women, and the region’s natural and commercialized elements. Combining these two series in one pictorial plane, Minaya provides space for the viewer to question imposed histories and ideas, encouraging new and culturally inclusive narratives.
