Vincent Minor
Artist Statement
In the photographs Vincent Minor creates, images appear to derive more from dreams than reality. With the use of rich colors, dark settings and surreal environments these painterly portraits are built into narratives exploring themes on death, obsession, anxiety, solitude and escapism. Creating a world which bridges the gap between what seems impossible or fantastical into stories that are tangible.
The use of objects and items within the work tend to stray from their intended use. Warped by imagination and unusual perspectives every day items have a different interpretation. And when the work leans on a more emotional direction, concealed faces add mystery while unordinary camera angles will convey a sense of intimacy and voyeurism.
Likened to haunting yet beautiful films or dark fairytales, the work aims to pose questions between our reality and imagination, infatuations and compulsions that often are born from our minds.
