Artist Statement

My work can be experienced as durational performance, choreography, inter-media installation, community organizing, and a practice in the healing arts. These live encounters are embedded with issues of perception, time, presence and embodiment, embodied histories, materiality and the natural world, and the complexities of home and belonging. An upcoming work entitled ‘wail or we are inseparable and there is no time’ to be presented at Honor Fraser Gallery in Spring 2016 focuses on religious boundaries within the Old City of Jerusalem in order to negotiate a secular dealing with ideology, prayer and gender division, and the polarizing capacity for nourishment and destruction within the natural world.Often described as quiet and focused with images that combine the strong and delicate, I hope that my work provides a sensitive space for heightened states of awareness and a way to access a sense of relatedness. The art I make exists within a constellation of creative roles. I practice cranial sacral unwinding, aromatherapy, and sensory tracking/therapeutic movement with individuals and groups since 2008. And by initiating a not for profit event platform called homeLA, I have helped launch new site responsive works by more than 80 independent artists in 14 homes across Los Angeles since 2013 opening private space to creative process and to the public.CV
