Artist Statement
Through process, experience and transformation of materials, my work exemplifies a fossilized philosophical suicide. I make frozen Happy-sads, Old babies and Double zeros. My studio is an absurd Oyster, where I calcify ideas of ephemerality, permanence and significance. Mechanically, like sand in a cut, these theoretical particles are in complete cataclysm in the Oysters bowels, inducing an intoxicating sphere of perversity that behaves like a lubricated ball bearing diverting all fertile reasoning past any problematic truths in its cyclical existence. This allows me to internally question what I am doing and know exactly what I’m doing at the same time. Subsequently, my making endures periodic struggles that can be physical, alchemical or both, that live, die and fossilize into the history of my practice like the Silver dapple gene in the constitution of every idea cum art piece.
