Artist Statement

Working exclusively with analog mechanisms and materials, I use photography to explore what it means to participate in a culture that systematically objectifies, depreciates, and discards the things and individuals it creates. With subjects that range from abstraction and rambling allegory in the human landscape of desert spaces to the obfuscation embedded in the act of photographic portraiture, I’m interested in working with images and texts that manipulate the quickest-thinking, most-emotional, deeply-human spaces that the rigors of rational existence neglect. My work has taken the form of discrete projects of thematic images, large-scale multi-image installations, and both book and wall works that weave photographs with original prose.
