The images and objects I work with are unambiguous artifacts, but they can be easily turned inside out, hiding the logos and designs that tell us their use in the world. I’m often attracted to ergonomic forms that are affected by weight and compression. I look for things that have a physical and emotional expression, more so than intellectual content. For me ‘sculpting’ involves exploiting and nurturing these things. I try to facilitate the momentary experience of concrete language giving way to obscure feeling through an equal investment in image, surface, and physical points of contact.
