What is my work about?

I created an alphabet of 31 shapes. I use these shapes to encrypt information in the form of paintings, sculptures, animations and sound pieces.

Artist Statement

My work is based on an invented personal alphabet called ‘Instant Paradise.’ Initially developed as source material to generate abstract forms, this lexicon of 31 shapes has now transformed into a personally standardized encryption system which operates through a digital typeface. Mining online resources for data on the impact of technology on our social and personal lives, I act as a digital to analog convertor which preserves information that could be lost or altered in the cloud. The persistence of traditional media and handcraft in my work speak to an interest in the role of chance and imperfection in an increasingly mechanized landscape of artistic production.
