Announcing the 2015 Emerging Artist Grantees in New York City

Rema Hort Mann Foundation (RHMF) is thrilled to announce the recipients of the 2015 Emerging Artist Grant in New York City.

Each receiving a $10,000 unrestricted grant, the emerging visual artists selected for this year’s grant include: Aaron Fowler, Motoko Fukuyama, M. Lamar, Leeza Meksin, Troy Michie, Kenny Rivero, Kenya (Robinson), and Ezra Wube.

Through a closed-call nomination process—which included over 50 distinguished NYC-based curators and arts professionals—197 artists were invited to apply.

An independent jury selected the grant recipients through a rigorous selection process. Jurors for the 2015 Emerging Artist Grant in New York City included:

  • Rocío Aranda-Alvarado, Curator, El Museo del Barrio
  • Matthew Higgs, Director/Chief Curator, White Columns
  • Rujeko Hockley, Assistant Curator of Contemporary Art, Brooklyn Museum
  • Susan Hort, Co-founder, Rema Hort Mann Foundation
  • David Humphrey, Artist

Past Emerging Artist Grantees have included Korakrit Arunanondchai, Keltie Ferris, Rashaad Newsome,Virginia Overton, Dana Schutz, Sarah Sze, Mickalene Thomas, and Kehinde Wiley, among others.

RHMF offers eight Emerging Artists Grants in New York City and eight Emerging Artist Grants in Los Angeles annually through a nomination process.
